  Professional Engineer's Approach

Many state boards of licensure for Professional Engineers now recognize that inspection and evaluation of the structural, electrical, and mechanical systems of residences and small buildings are integral parts of the practice of engineering.

In view of this and taking into consideration the growth of non-engineers in the building and home inspections industry, it is evident that an ethical professional organization was needed to establish practice criteria and verify qualifications of those offering such services to the public.

As a result, the National Academy of Building Inspection Engineers (NABIE) was established in 1989. One of NABIE's principal goals was to develop professional standards in building and home inspection- a specialized engineering practice. NABIE is dedicated to serving the needs of the general public, private and corporate real estate purchasers, investors, brokers, attorneys, and other clients.
